Abis Optimization Gateways

RAD's Abis optimization gateways enable operators to improve GSM backhaul efficiency, particularly where bandwidth is constrained or expensive, such as over international leased lines, satellite and microwave links. In addition to multiplexing traffic from underutilized E1 circuits, these gateways employ voice activity detection and silence suppression techniques to optimize the Abis interface and reduce the number of E1 trunks required for BTS-BSC (base station to base station controller) backhaul by 50% and more, freeing up the connection for additional traffic or next generation services.
